Darn Tough Vermont Presents:

The Women’s Freeride Festival at Highland Mountain Bike Park

"An Event to Encourage the Growth of Female Mountain Biking Community"

NORTHFIELD, NH—Darn Tough Vermont, domestic manufacturer of premium all-weather performance socks, is proud to be the official sponsor of the Women’s Freeride Festival at New Hampshire’s Highland Mountain Bike Park. On Saturday, October 15, the ladies-only, all-day event introduces new riders to the largely male-dominated sport of mountain biking and fosters growth in the existing community of female riders. Highland Mountain Bike Park encourages women of all ability levels and mountain biking disciplines to attend the event.

“I have witnessed an increase in female riders every year since the park opened,” said Mark Hayes, Owner and General Manager of Highland Mountain. “I want this growth to continue; in fact, I think it has huge potential to blow up. If women-specific events like the Freeride Festival help to bring more women into the sport, then we will be introducing many more.”

All women who sign up for the Festival will receive $19 lift tickets – 50 percent off the regular price. The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a choice of the “Ride Like a Girl Cross-Country (XC) Clinic” or a one-hour class on the basics of bike maintenance. Throughout the day, participants can choose from a breadth of clinics, including topics such as pumping, riding drop-offs, performing trailside repairs and much more. After a noontime lunch, ladies can choose from a variety of guided rides for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. The event concludes with a 5:00 p.m. happy hour including food and beverages and a prize raffle featuring items from event sponsors like Darn Tough Vermont socks.

“Mountain bikers are tough on their gear and demand the best, especially in New England’s rough conditions. What better place to design, knit and test socks?,” said Ric Cabot, Founder and President of Darn Tough Vermont. “We’re excited to be a part of Highland Mountain’s effort to introduce more women to a sport we’re passionate about.”
